BlackFest is proud to announce our partnership with Mary Seacole House – Celebrating International Mother Language Day, a day to celebrate and protect all the languages of the world. 📣

We have a competition and are collecting creative writing pieces on language. Works can be in any language, be a mixture bi-lingual and/or what your relationship with your mother tongue is even in yearning, loving or in nuanced ways we want to hear from you.

We are holding 2 Days of Celebrations:

📆21st February 2024 – Announcement of winners and sharing of community wide language pieces – Participants speaking over 27 languages join us will be an amazing day!

Ideas of what you can submit:

– Poetry
– ⁠Prose
– ⁠Storytelling
– ⁠Folklore
– ⁠Short/Flash Fiction
– ⁠An existing piece you want to share light on that captures your language or experience you can relate to – ⁠Any forms of expression and creative writing.

Cash Prizes to be won: £100 first prize 3 prizes up for grabs.
