Mary Seacole House (MSH) is used as a resource centre for local community groups and as a source for referrals, advice, training, guidance and information in support of BME clients.
In a typical year Mary Seacole House will support approx. 400 people, which includes our Day service, outreach service, and advocacy service.
Our service is also used by Liverpool John Moores University, Liverpool University, University of Central Lancashire and Liverpool Community College for student placements, Race and Mental Health training, and talks to students about black mental health issues.
MSH liaises with key people i.e. community leaders within the BME communities. We work closely with workers within GP surgeries and health centres, mental health teams, local psychiatric hospitals, various housing agencies/housing officers, supported accommodation, police, crisis team, asylum seekers agencies, community development workers, community organisations, drug and alcohol services, community transport, other statutory and voluntary mental health services.
We have good links with the local art galleries and museums and have been approached by them for our service users to work with them on art and craft projects and exhibitions.
We have good links with the Local Sports Centre and have easy access to other leisure centres and exercise facilities within the city.
We have maintained good links with the local faith and spiritual services and also have access to the Faith and Spiritual Community Development Worker, who can assist us on developing those existing links.
MSH also offers the following services to local partners, stakeholders and the community:
MSH has effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders which include Liverpool City Council Health & Social Care Services, Mersey Care NHS Trust, Liverpool CCG, Social Inclusion Team, Windsor House Psychiatric Hospital, Broadoak Psychiatric Hospital, Amina House Residential Home, and local pharmacists.
