Church Street bandstand to the Albert Dock

As part of Slavery Remembrance Day, remember ancestors who, deprived of their liberty, enabled the port of Liverpool to thrive. Join the Walk of Remembrance through Liverpool City Centre led by community representatives.

Meet at the bandstand on Church Street. The route takes in Liverpool One and passes the site of the historic Old Dock where slave ships would once have moored and been repaired. The walk finishes at the Dr Martin Luther King Jr Building within the Albert Dock.

Following the walk there is a libation ceremony at the waterfront by the Dr Martin Luther King Building, followed by a programme of events in the International Slavery Museum. See the Slavery Remembrance Day page for full details.

This event is part of our Slavery Remembrance Day 2017 event series.
